Going Green

At Cable-Safe we are dedicated to the environment and to developing lasting, mutually beneficial relationships in every aspect of our business. We are committed to improving our environmental sustainability through the products we sell to our customers and how we conduct our business.

To do this, we recruited Becca, our Eco-Warrior, to help us find ways to become more environmentally responsible. Here are some of suggestions that she came up with.

Reduce our Carbon Footprint here at Cable-Safe
After extensive research, we decided to use the Carbon Free Small Business program at Carbonfund to offset 70 tons of our carbon footprint. Under this program we are able to choose to support renewable energy, energy efficiency, reforestation or a combination of all three.

Find New Ways to Reuse and Recycle our Product Line
We are researching the use of Post consumer Polymers in the manufacturing of the Cable-Safe Product Line and recycling our existing line.

Sell Energy Saving Products
We have begun to carry energy saving products like Smart Strip Power Strips that have the additional benefit of paying for themselves in as little as six months.

Team With Local Green Companies
Cable-Safe has teamed with Techno-Rescue, a veteran, minority owned company located in Commerce City, Colorado that is a full lifecycle green IT company specializing in cradle to grave safe recycling of unwanted computer and electronic equipment, secure and guaranteed data destruction, and certified disposal of electronic waste.

We have also teamed up with Green Girl & Green Mountain Recycling Services to recycle our business mixed paper, cardboard, comingled containers and recyclable metals. In 2007 we recycled 2,090 pounds in 2007, which saved 108.44 million BTUs of energy or 903 gallons of gas and prevented 1.05 tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

At Cable-Safe we are doing a better job supporting the environment than we have in the past. We intend to do better in the future and are open to your ideas on how to accomplish that.
